I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face

Hello! So yeah, sorry for not writing an email in over a month haha, but it has been a good one. In the last few weeks of May, we covered both the Bambang 2nd branch and the Almaguer branch until the new Elders arrived there, and after they arrived, we also had exchanges with them in Almaguer to help them out as they open the area back up, so it was fun to see the people I met and came to love a year ago. During this time, we were also preparing Aristotle for baptism, and on the first week of June, he and his son, Kiel, got baptized together, which was a super sweet moment, especially since his wife's boss let her come home for the week of their baptism before heading back abroad (she's a member of the Church, and she works abroad in a different country). It was originally just supposed to be her son getting baptized on that day since he turned 8 years old, but once we met the family, we taught Aristotle over the few months that his wife was working abroad so that he too woul...

San Jose week 2

phone, but here's how my week went: Tuesday is Taco Tuesday for us here. We have District Council each Tuesday morning, and afterwards, we all get tacos for lunch, so it's pretty fun. Later, we mainly just did finding/contacting, and we nearly met our weekly goal for finding people in that one day. On Wednesday, we had a couple meetings at the mission office, and later we were finding/contacting again. A few miracles happened today. For one, I randomly swerved to the right on my bike once, and an apple fell right where my head would've been. We didn't have helmets yet, so I was definitely protected in that moment. For another, we met someone right when they pulled into their driveway, and they were willing to listen to us teach them right there on a spot. We were even able to ask if he would be willing to meet with us again and prepare for baptism, and he said yes. He was just super humble and willing to let the Spirit speak to him, which led us to be inspired to tal...

Hello! It's been a good past couple of weeks. For one, Elder Gella and I are now covering Almaguer as well as the Bambang 2nd Branch (long story short: the missionaries that were assigned there had to be pulled out, and there weren't any missionaries there for nearly a month; with us being the closest missionaries, plus with my previous knowledge of the area, we became the missionaries for that area as well as our own until the next transfer in a couple of weeks), so it's been fun to be meeting people that I used to work with and teach last year haha. Our goal is basically to nurture the area and the people that the past missionaries were preparing for baptism, as well as those that were recently baptized, so that the next missionaries aren't left with nothing when they arrive at the end of May. We also got bikes as a result that we're sharing with the Bambang 1st Elders, and it's a bit refreshing to have bikes again and not needing to walk everywhere or worryi...

Hello! It's been a good few weeks here in Bambang. I'm slowly but surely getting adjusted to the area and getting to know the members and people we're teaching here. We have a lot of dinner appointments, so we're definitely getting fed haha, and we've been able to have our branch mission leader, branch president, and a few other members join us in some of our visits, which has been a great help, and we really appreciate it. Alyssa (the young daughter of a family who are all members except for her, but they haven't been active in coming to church for a while) keeps continuing to prepare for her baptism on May 13, and she and her parents continue to come every week to church and become more active members, which is great. We also met another part-member family in a similar situation; the youngest daughter, Zyla, is also not baptized since her family stopped coming to church a few years ago as well, but they came to church this week, and we're continuing to m...

Proclaim my gospel from land to land and city to city

Hello! It's been a couple weeks, but I'm here in my new area, which also may be my last area since I have one more transfer left after this cycle haha, we'll see if there's any crazy changes. I'm here in Bambang, which is where I lived when I first arrived in the Philippines, my first area is actually the area right underneath us, it's pretty cool. Because of that, I'll occasionally see people I've already met before, either from our branch itself or from Almaguer (my first area), which is always a nice and fun surprise. I'm serving in the Bambang 2nd branch, my companion is Elder Gella (who was in the MTC with Elder Gernale, who I trained in Almaguer), and we lived in a 4 Elder apartment with the zone leaders, and things are going well so far. It's the largest "city" I've served in so far here in the Philippines (it's still just a municipality though, not technically a city yet), and we don't have bikes, which means we...

The spirit of the Lord caught away (Elder Enger)

Hello! How are you guys doing? It has been a good past couple weeks, and thanks for the birthday wishes! We're working with Joy (her husband is a member) and her daughter, Marjorie, and this week, we met some of Joy's grandchildren. Not only did they all come to church yesterday, but Joy will be preparing to be baptized on May 6! And Marjorie and the grandchildren will likely be following her lead as well, so we're super excited for them and their family. Irene, an inactive woman that we've been trying to help come to church, also came yesterday, which made us happy to see. We also continue to find some wonderful part-member families, and even if some of them didn't come to church yesterday, we're confident that they will be able to come in the next few weeks. Bella (the daughter of a member) also got baptized and confirmed, so that was awesome, and Rosalinda, Rosemarie, and Rossgray continue to do great after their baptism; they're participating in Sunda...
