I will lead them whithersoever I will
Hello!
It's been a good few weeks here in Bambang. I'm slowly but surely getting adjusted to the area and getting to know the members and people we're teaching here. We have a lot of dinner appointments, so we're definitely getting fed haha, and we've been able to have our branch mission leader, branch president, and a few other members join us in some of our visits, which has been a great help, and we really appreciate it.
Alyssa (the young daughter of a family who are all members except for her, but they haven't been active in coming to church for a while) keeps continuing to prepare for her baptism on May 13, and she and her parents continue to come every week to church and become more active members, which is great. We also met another part-member family in a similar situation; the youngest daughter, Zyla, is also not baptized since her family stopped coming to church a few years ago as well, but they came to church this week, and we're continuing to meet with them and the girlfriend, Winnie, of the oldest son too. We've only been able to meet with Aristotle once or twice more in the past couple of weeks, but even so, he continues to come to church with his kids, which is awesome, and we've been able to introduce him to a few other members in the Church as well. Marieta is also someone we've found and invited to prepare for baptism in June; her husband and all of her kids are already members of the Church (one of them is even the branch president in the Bambang 1st branch), she's the only one who hasn't been baptized yet, but she wants to be baptized and has even been inviting her friends to come to church and meet with the missionaries as well haha, her only concern is coming to church, so some prayers for her will be appreciated as well so that she'd be able to come to church.
We were able to meet a woman, Lita, this week in a pretty interesting way haha. Several years ago, Lita was taught by Sister missionaries, but lost contact with them and hadn't been contacted by missionaries since the COVID pandemic. A few weeks ago over Easter, she visited her sister (who is a member) and met the missionaries in that area, who then referred her to us. We gave her a call, but she said she was busy at the moment and wasn't able to talk, and when we tried to call her again later, she didn't respond. A couple weeks later (i.e. last week or so), I started to get some thoughts about calling her again (since we didn't have an exact address, just a phone number), but we got busy and I just forgot and it slipped through, up until a few days ago when we were visiting some less active members with our branch mission leader, and he points to a house and says that he thinks someone lives here who was taught by Sister missionaries before in the past. Shortly after he said that, Lita walks outside with her younger daughter and he recognizes her and they start talking. She then introduces herself as Lita, which is when I realize that it's the same woman who got referred to us that we hadn't been able to contact yet haha. It was a pretty neat experience, and we're now meeting with her and her two younger daughters. Long story short: it all works out in God's plan for us, despite our weaknesses or shortcomings haha. She wasn't able to come to church like we were planning on, but we do plan to continue meeting with her and several other people that we found this week.
Anyways, those are some of the fun things that have been happening this week. We also went on a hike last P-Day right behind our apartment, which is also where I hiked approximately a year ago as well haha, and I continue to co-DFTC with Elder Gardner, which is going well so far. I hope you are all having an amazing week, always remember how much God---your Heavenly Father---loves and cares for you, and just like in our experience with Lita and many others, He is guiding your path and wants to help you experience the joy and peace that He wants to give you as you continue to put your trust in Him.
See you all next week!
