I, (Elder Enger), Do not write more, for (My time is) Small
Hello, everyone!
Sorry that I haven't written an email in a while, but I've got just a few minutes to write this before I go to bed haha, my weeks/P-Days have been pretty busy lately.
This week has been pretty good. It's a new cycle, a new transfer, and I am staying in Mallig with Elder Secillano, and....we are both training as a trio, which should be exciting and interesting haha. (I'm also still the social media/technology head for the mission, which continues to keep me busy as well haha.) Our trainee is Elder Lewis, he's 20 and from Oregan, which is pretty neat since that's where my trainer, Elder Schumann-Curtis, is from too. It seems like it will be an interesting experience to train an American while in the Philippines, such as being the automatic English-Tagalog translator for the companionship and for everyone else we're with haha, and it makes me grateful for the lessons I learned and experiences I went through when I first arrived in the Philippines, especially since I didn't really have anyone to fully guide me with what was going on with me being one of the first Americans here in two years lol. It's great to see all these new missionaries in, and we're even receiving missionaries from Fiji, Tonga, New Zealand, and even Pakistan, which is awesome haha.
In regards to mission life updates here in Mallig, things are going pretty well. We've invited Aida, the friend of a recently baptized member, to be baptized on February 18, so some prayers for her will be greatly appreciated, and we're currently trying to prepare some others as well and see if they're interested/ready for baptism. These past two weeks, I've seen the most people attend church that I've seen since I came to Mallig, and the branch's leaders and members seem more and more united with each passing week, which makes us happy and gives us hope to keep doing all we can to serve and strengthen them, even just a little bit at a time. And I'm still unofficially called to be the branch pianist and Youth Sunday School teacher lol.
The only downsides for us right now as a trio is that we only have two bikes, so we have to walk everywhere or pray that someone happens to pick us up on the road haha, which will take some getting used to, and we also only have two mattresses....so I'm currently sleeping on some cardboard and some blankets as a cushion until we receive another mattress, that's just missionary life here in the Philippines for you haha. That plus me grabbing a giant orange spider that was crawling on my throat during a lesson one night, that was exciting haha.
Anyways, I hope you all are doing well, let me know if there's anything I can pray for you guys! I know that the power of prayer and faith in Jesus Christ is real, it has blessed my life in so many ways, especially over the past (almost) 18 months, as well as the lives of all the people I meet with and help come closer to Him. Always look for the small miracles everyday, and always know how much God loves you as His son or daughter.
See you next time!
