After this I beheld...a great multitude
Hello!
This week has been pretty great, but again, because of time restraints haha, I will have to make this email a bit short.
Last Sunday (yesterday), was perhaps the best Sunday we've had, I've never seen so many people at church before here in Mallig, both in regards to people that we are teaching, members of the Church that are less active in coming to church, and part-member families that we have been meeting with and teaching, so it made us really happy to see everyone there and to see the fruits of our labors over the past few months. Now, the goal is to keep that attendance consistent and moving forward for all of these people and all of those that we're trying to teach.
Although we will have to move her baptism date to March, Aida keeps on trying to come to church and has a great enthusiasm to keep learning and progressing towards baptism and becoming a member of the Church. We also invited Karen (the girlfriend of a member and comes to church with his family) to be baptized, and she would love to, but they need to figure out some family business first before we can set a confirmed date, so some prayers for them and that they can receive the guidance that they need will be greatly appreciated. Furthermore, Rose Mary (non-member) and Rosalinda (Rose Mary's mom, who hasn't gone to church for a few decades but has told us that she's a member already) came to church as well, it being the first time for Rose Mary and the third time in a row for Rosalinda since we first starting meeting with them a few weeks ago.
Although it's been a little difficult/time-consuming to walk everywhere since we don't have another bike for Elder Lewis, we've been able to see some incredible miracles with meeting and visiting some part-member families, many of whom came to church yesterday and want us to teach their siblings or kids as well to help them be baptized, and it's awesome to see the joy that starts to enter their lives more fully as they embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, even if we've just met them once or a few times, it truly is a message of joy and peace that is meant for all of God's children if they want to receive it. One of those part-member families we found because the mom (a member that hasn't come to church in a couple years) called out to us while we were walking on the street and visiting some other inactive members and told us that she wants us to come teach her daughter (Bella) since she hasn't been baptized yet, probably the first time I've had someone randomly call out to me and say that they or their relative already wants to be baptized haha. Later that evening, we were then visiting Margie (another member that came to church for the first time in a while yesterday) and her son, Leandre (who we met last week or so), and she also said that her younger cousin, Ashley, actually wants to be taught and baptized as well haha, I can't believe that happened twice in a single day haha. So yeah, if you read those names (and others) in my future emails, that's how we met them, and they seem to hold a lot of potential, as well as some others that I haven't mentioned yet in this email.
In other news, I also ate dog for the third time since coming to the Philippines haha, so that was fun. Training Elder Lewis continues to go well, even if it is pretty interesting doing it in a trio (not to mention teaching Tagalog at the same time haha), but he's doing well so far. And lastly, I got a few new additions to my social media team, including one of my former companions from San Jose, Elder Kindall haha. He served with me for one week in the Tagalog Group before he went to his original assignment in the Philippines; he's home from his mission now, but he works as an Online Training Center trainer to help missions with their social media efforts, and he has just barely been assigned to work with the Cauayan mission, so that's pretty exciting haha.
Anyways, I hope that you guys are doing well. Continue to trust in the Lord and see the small miracles in your everyday life.
Until next time,
