With healing in his wings

Hello, How are you guys all doing? Things have been great here; continuing to serve and help people, helping Romarilyn progress towards baptism, and having interviews with President Cobing, all going pretty well here in the mission life. Tuesday was alright. We first tried to visit the Raymundo family, who we met last week, but only one of them was there, so we were able to talk to him and schedule another time for us to come back. We then spent a while searching for this one family, the Bueno family, that was mentioned to us as we talked to Nanay Sareno about ministering efforts, and we finally ended up at their house, no one was home lol. It's alright though; along the way, we were able to run into Maribel (member) and Cassandra and Blessed (the youth Sister Elaine referred us to) as they were coming home from school, which was nice since we haven't seen them in a while because they're always busy with school. We then tried to meet several others in the neighborhood that weren't home before going to Romarilyn to end the evening, which went pretty well. On the way home, we passed by a couple YSA members, who gave us a couple burgers from the fast food they were eating, which was nice. We also bought some food at a nearby sari-sari for a very generous price, and when we got home, the owners of our house gave us some food and cake as well, lots of blessings tonight haha Wednesday was alright. We had some weekly planning, which went well, and afterwards, we went with Nick and Ryan (both of them are preparing for a mission) to visit the Macarilay family. There, we met the husband (non-member) of the oldest daughter (member), and we were able to share a message, which was great. We then walked over to Sister Elaine's to celebrate her birthday, which went pretty well, even if a big spider came out and terrified me for a brief moment haha. Anyways, afterwards, we dropped off Nick and headed home for the night to do some DFTC work. On Thursday, we had district council. Last week, I had asked our district leader if we could review the Safeguards for Using Technology that we have as missionaries in the next or one of the next district councils (since that's what I've been asking the MLC/rest of the social media team to do as well), so he asked me to lead our discussion about those Safeguards today, which went alright, I think it was a good review for us all. We then headed home and went with Nick to visit the Calimag and Bulan families for the evening, which went well. Only one of the Calimag brothers was there, so we were able to talk to him and share a message, and we were able to have a good meeting with the Bulan family as well. After walking Nick home, we headed back to our place to do some social media work and send a couple texts, and I also called Elder Gardner, one of the new American Elders in another area, to orient him about the social media team. At the end of P-Day, President Cobing called me and asked me to invite Elder Gardner to be part of the social media team since he edited videos as a hobby before his mission and it could help him adjust more smoothly to the mission/Philippines, so tonight, we just had a quick video call about the social media team and what our expectations are for the moment, it was good. On Friday, we had interviews with President Cobing, which went well. Instead of President travelling to our district to meet with us, our whole zone travelled to the mission home in Cauayan instead, which was a nice switch. At one point, there were 5 American Elders in the room, it's been a while since I've seen that many Americans all in one place 😂 When we came back from some lunch, we had some ice cream with Sister Cobing before I had my interview. While we waited for interviews, we got to talk with some other missionaries, which was good, and Sister Cobing sang some Christmas songs with us as another Elder played them on the piano haha. After a while, we finally were able to arrive in our area, and since it was already evening, we went to visit Romarilyn to end the day. It went ok, even if her son was causing a bit of a scene haha, and Romarilyn finally agreed to say the closing prayer for the first time, which was nice haha. Afterwards, we headed home, made some dinner, and did some DFTC work before heading to bed. Saturday went alright. Nick met us at our house again, and we headed out to get some lunch, during which we accidentally stumbled upon a member's restaurant as they were cooking some banana pancakes, so they gave us some before we got some actual lunch haha. We then walked to one of our further areas again, which went alright; we were able to meet Jessa and the Cristobal family, both of whom have been unavailable for the past several weeks since we first met them, so that was a neat miracle, and the lessons went well. Since it took a while to walk there and our teachings went a bit long, we started to walk back to the center of town for our dinner appointment, during which a member from Elder Anor's first area passed by us and offered to give us a ride once they recognized Elder Anor, which was nice haha. We then walked to our dinner appointment with Nanay Sareno under a pretty sunset, and as we finished eating dinner, the beginnings of another tropical storm/typhoon started to hit haha, so we hurried home. Sunday was a little interesting, but it was alright haha. We woke up to updates from our ZLs about the tropical storm that was approaching; it had intensified into a typhoon and would be hitting our area around noon-ish, so we were thankfully able to go to church. And Romarilyn came today, so that was nice to see. Afterwards, because of the incoming typhoon, we just had to stay home all day, so exciting haha. After some lunch, we planned for the rest of our day, which was just a bunch of calls and texts to some media referrals and some others haha. Nick came by for a bit because he initially wanted to work with us but we couldn't leave our apartment, so he just sat with us on the front porch as we made our texts/calls. Most of them didn't answer, very exciting lol, but the first call we made was hilarious. The guy answered, and I started talking to him, but I had to stop and look at Elder Anor for help since I had no idea what he was saying. They continue to talk, and there are some parts where I have no idea what he's saying for some reason, I couldn't tell if it was the signal or if he was actually speaking a different dialect lol, all I could tell was that he was agitated. Eventually, we ended the call because he wasn't interested, and when I asked Elder Anor and Nick about it, I found out that I couldn't understand what he was saying because he was swearing at us the whole time 😂 Anyways, it was funny that that was the first call of the day, and we were laughing for a while about it and some other random stuff that he said that I actually did understand haha, it was interesting. Not much came from the calls, but we did what we could, and we later chatted a couple people that we're trying to teach on Messenger as well. After a bit, Nick went home and we had some dinner, and I had a meeting with the referral secretaries, which went well. The typhoon has gone alright so far; sometimes, it rains super hard and is super windy, and other times, there's next to nothing haha, it comes and goes, but we're also on the top of the typhoon, not close to the center, so it's way worse in other areas, but everything was alright with us, no worries I hope you are all doing wonderful and continue to see the miracles of the Lord in your lives. In church yesterday, we talked about a talk from April 2022 which I love, called "Christ Heals That Which Is Broken," in which Sister Wright says, "My dear friends, we all have something in our lives that is broken that needs to be mended, fixed, or healed. As we turn to the Savior, as we align our hearts and minds with Him, as we repent, He comes to us “with healing in his wings,” puts His arms lovingly around us, and says, 'It’s OK. You are only 5—or 16, 23, 48, 64, 91. We can fix this together!' I testify that there is nothing in your life that is broken that is beyond the curative, redeeming, and enabling power of Jesus Christ." I add my testimony that Christ lives, that through His atoning sacrifice for us, He truly can heal anything that ails us and get us through any trial in our lives as we continue to turn to Him and trust in His grace and power. This is something I'm reminded of time and time again here on the mission as I see His healing in my own life as well as in the lives of those around me; there's nothing that He can't heal, fix, or make right, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to share His gospel and message of hope and healing to those around me.
