Be of good Cheer, for I will lead you along
Hello,
How are you all doing? My week was pretty good: inviting others to come unto Christ, enjoying some rainstorms, the usual haha. It was pretty busy with MLC (which was a two-day event this time) and with me trying to finalize some ads and still trying to adjust to the area, but it was all good.
On Tuesday, we visited the Cabertos, a part-member family whose children have membership records (some of them), but they haven't been baptized yet since their parents stopped coming to church before the kids were baptized. Elder Anor and his last companion found them shortly before I arrived, so we've started to work with them a bit. The next part of our plan for the day fell through lol, so we got some fries and milk tea (water-based, without the tea of course haha; mine was mango-flavored, it was pretty good), while we tried to replan/figure something out. It was also raining a lot haha, but it luckily calmed down by the time we finished, so we were able to visit a couple others. They were busy at the moment, but we were able to schedule another time to meet with them, which is good. We then visited the Bulan family, which also went pretty well, and we were able to meet one of their other daughters and start teaching her as well. We then visited Brother Sergio to (hopefully) start teaching his wife since she isn't a member, which went alright, before we headed home to contact a couple referrals and do some social media work.
Wednesday was alright. Since MLC is tomorrow, we had our district council today instead of Thursday, and it was over zoom this time since our district leader was sick. Afterwards, we tried visiting Elaine and a couple others, but they weren't home, so we headed to the church to meet some of the YSA and schedule a time to meet with one of them and her family (since she is a newly baptized member, we need to review the lessons with her, and we're hoping we could teach her family as well, who aren't members). Afterwards, we headed over to Romarilyn (mom of one of the YSA members), which went alright, she just talks a lot and gets sidetracked easily, which makes our visits a lot longer than we had planned haha. After that, we got some dinner and headed home to work on some DFTC stuff and get ready for tomorrow's travels to Cauayan for our MLC.
Thursday was a bit interesting haha. In the morning, about an hour or two before we planned to leave for MLC, we got a call from the APs telling us that we will just come on Friday instead (because MLC was a two-day event this time, exciting haha) since that's when they allotted my social media time. A little confused, after we planned out our whole day, I sent Sister Cobing a text asking her what time they wanted us to arrive tomorrow and when they'll expect us to return to our areas, and I'm glad I did because she later called us and said we are actually supposed to be there for the whole thing haha. This happened about 30 minutes before we were supposed to leave lol, so we quickly packed our things and headed to Cauayan, still arriving a few minutes late. After some lunch, we had our first session of MLC, which went well, and after that session was over, we all got to change and play some activities outside, which was a party haha, didn't expect to do that at an MLC haha. Elder Anor and I both forgot to bring running shoes, so we just ran in socks and sandals, and the soles of our feet were both feeling it in days to follow 😂 After dinner, we headed to some nearby apartments to sleep for the night so that we could quickly return for our second session on Friday. We went with the APs, Elder Harrison and his companion, and Elder Dagdag, one of the past ZLs of Nueva Vizcaya that I was with for my first cycle there with Elder Sabala, and his companion to an apartment that was pretty nice haha; it was spacious, it had couches, air conditioning, flushing toilets, and two showers (even if the water was still cold haha), basically living in luxury 😂
Friday was good. We went to our last session of MLC in the morning to discuss the upcoming zone conference and other subjects and for me to give my social media schpill haha. After some lunch, we headed back to Jones, and we tried to visit a few people that weren't actually available before we went to our dinner appointment. Dinner went well; we were able to meet with/start teaching the member's daughter, Michelle, who's been taught by the missionaries before (by Elder Sabala, in fact haha), and her husband, Joel. Afterwards, we tried texting/calling a few people at our house and I continued to finalize some logistics for our advertisements so that we can start implementing them soon.
Saturday went well. We had our weekly planning, which went alright. We then travelled through the cornfields to meet Cristel and her recently baptized friend, Althea, which went well, and we then headed to a part-member family nearby to try to teach Karen, who isn't a member. She wasn't there, but we were able to meet the grandfather and grandmother of the family there, right when it started to pour rain, classic haha. We then travelled back through the cornfields to meet another person we've been trying to teach, but they weren't available, so we headed home to make some dinner, try to contact some more people, and do some DFTC work.
Fast Sunday ended up pretty good. Few people came to church, unfortunately, but it all went well. After church, we tried visiting the Cabertos, and we then tried to visit Ivhana and Joan, but she wasn't home, so we visited their friend, Danilo, which went well. For the next little while, we biked to several areas to try to visit some more people, but no one was home for some reason lol, so we ended the night at Romarilyn's house, where we were able to answer her questions and help her commit to a baptism goal for September 24, yay! The lesson went a bit longer than normal in order to fully answer her questions and help her commit to a specific day, so by the time we arrived home, I had to immediately start preparing for a meeting with the Messenger team, which went pretty well, but it meant that I still didn't eat until 10pm haha, so that was fun lol.
I hope you all are doing wonderful, and I hope you know how much God loves each and every one of you and how aware He truly is of your life, your needs, your desires, your struggles, whatever it may be. I've had so many experiences testifying that He truly is there for us and that He truly does love us, and if you aren't sure of that yet, I promise that sincere prayer, regular scripture study, and remembering Him through church attendance and keeping His commandments will help you recognize His hand and grace in your day-to-day life.
See you next time,
Elder Enger
