Behold, we go up to (Cauayan)
Hello,
How are you all doing? This week wasn’t the most exciting with a lot of travels and meetings and few people being home, but it still went well.
On Tuesday, we tried meeting Lenlen this morning, but she wasn't home, so we just headed to district council. Afterwards, we visited John Raven and tried visiting Danica/Annalyn from last week, but they weren't there, so we went over to meet another referral, Jane, from Sister Mila, and she was totally willing to have us come by again, so that should go well. We then tried to visit Lenlen at her family's store in the market, and right when we got there, it started pouring rain, so we all just huddled in their tent/shop in the market and waited for the storm to pass haha. Once the rain let up, we visited Christine/Queenie/Jennie, which went pretty well, they seem more and more likely to come to church as a family, so we're hoping and praying and doing whatever we can to help them go. We were going to head over to another part-member family before our dinner appointment, but immediately when I stood up to leave, it started pouring rain again, so I slowly sat down to see if that would make the rain stop (it didn't lol). Eventually, the rain did stop, and we just headed to our dinner appointment since we didn't have much time left in the evening.
Wednesday was also alright. After lunch, we headed to Bambang terminal to wait for the ZLs so that we could head to Cauayan for MLC, but we ended up having to wait for them there for a long time, which was fun lol. To pass the time, we contacted various members and people we’re teaching to prepare for this weekend when we come back from MLC, and we got a couple snacks. We then began our travels for the next few hours, eventually arrived at our apartment for the evening after some dinner. We were with Elder Herrman and his companion since they're going to the MLC too, which was a fun time.
On Thursday, we had our first MLC with President Cobing, which went well. Elder Herrman and I and our group picked up Elder Harrison along the way, which was nice, and we got to talk about various things, like which foods we like or don’t like lol. At MLC, President and Sister Cobing talked a bit about the prophetic mission of Joseph Smith, taking care of our health, and some other topics, and I was able to start getting some ideas/opinions on my ideas for better organizing the social media team to make it more efficient and to start making plans for the rest of the mission to be trained on various aspects of social media work so that the social media team and the "regular" missionaries are able to have a more synergized effort where we're better able to help one another instead of feeling like two separate entities. We then began our travels home, which took forever lol, we didn't get home until 11pm. We traveled from Cauayan to Santiago just fine, but at Santiago, the bus for Bambang wouldn't arrive until around 8pm, so we got some dinner, and the person who drove us back to the bus terminal was actually a returned missionary that was previously assigned to Elder Gernale's hometown, so that was pretty sweet haha. After almost leaving on the wrong bus lol, we finally got on the right one, but it made a few stops that made it take even longer, so it was a bit of a long day, we were glad to finally get some rest when we got home.
After some lunch on Friday, we headed over to Bambang for our first interviews with President Cobing, which went alright. After interviews, we went to the western hills to visit several people, but almost no one was home lol. We also met with Princess, but she said she didn't want to be taught anymore because she's busy at the moment. We met with Rosalinda to help her a bit more with her concerns about being baptized, but she doesn’t really want to be baptized right now unfortunately, and Hermie went with us to visit Sunshine/Kathline, but they weren't home either lol. We ended the night by having dinner with a member family, which went well, and I did some more social media responsibilities that evening.
Saturday was also alright, but nothing too exciting. We visited John Raven and Joy, which went well, before trying to meet several people that weren't there lol. We then visited Sister Mila to meet with Danica and her cousin, Trixie, which also went well, and we were able to apply some new skills/tips we've been learning/practicing. After they left, we then taught Sister Mila's son, Cono, which went alright. We then tried visiting several others, but they weren't home either, so we briefly stopped by a couple less active families (one of which has started to recently come back to church). We then traveled back to Sister Mila's for dinner, and I did some social media work/research in the evening.
Sunday was ok. Church went well; only Christine and Queenie came, but a couple inactive members we've visited before came as well, so that was nice. We then had lunch at a member's house before heading back home to do some weekly planning since we weren’t able to do it on Friday again. We then tried visiting a couple people, but most of them weren't there, and our appointment with Jane (the person referred to us on Tuesday) had to be rescheduled. We then got trapped in a huge rainstorm for a little bit haha and had to wait it out for a while before heading over to some dinner with some members. We then came home, reported on our week, and tried to rest for a bit before we had a Zoom meeting with the Messenger missionaries to inform them about the updates/reorganization we made at MLC.
I hope you all are doing fantastic and continue to trust in the Lord and rely on His grace. Even though not a whole lot happened this week, I still know that the Lord was guiding us and taking care of us. I know that He truly is there for each of you and that He wants you to come unto Him and partake of His mercy, strength, and guidance.
See you all next week,
Elder Enger
