Last week in Bernal
Hello,
As the title says haha, this ended up being my last week in the Bernal area, and I will be transferred up north to the Pleasanton/Livermore areas while Elder Duncan stays in Bernal with another Elder to finish up his training. First time leaving an area, so this is exciting haha.
On Tuesday, we had district council, and we went over our goals for the past month as well as setting goals for this upcoming month, which went pretty well. For the rest of the day, I told Elder Duncan to take the lead today for planning, traveling/contacting, and some door contacts (for those who I hadn't met yet). No one was really home or available, but it was good letting Elder Duncan take the lead so he could get the experience (especially since I'm ending up leaving anyways haha). Oh, I also dropped a big, full container of juice, and the carton broke, so there was juice all over the floor, that was fun. Let's just say we had to use a lot of paper towels 😂 and the floor is still a bit sticky lol.
It was raining all day Wednesday, so we had to scrap our plans for the day. It was good though, we did a lot of cleaning around our apartment that I've been meaning to get done. We also made several calls; had a surprise lesson with a recent convert over the phone, which she wants to do more regularly starting this upcoming week; and did some social media/family history work. We had to call Julio to cancel our lesson we were going to have that evening, and unfortunately he told us that he'll be out town for the next week or two, so we don't know quite when we'll see him again.
On Thursday, we had our weekly planning and ran into some members of the ward at Taco Bell lol, so we ate with them. A woman that we had a lesson/Bible study scheduled for that afternoon didn't answer our calls when we showed up at her place, but we ran into Franslie (previously thought his name was Freslie haha whoops) and had a good chat with him. He was on a call with his sister (she had met with missionaries in Brazil), and before he hung up, he turned the phone around so she could see us and say hi haha, it was pretty funny. He had read the chapter in the Book of Mormon like we had asked him (noice), and we summarized what the Book of Mormon was about. He seemed totally interested in going to church/chatting afterwards, so that was pretty exciting. We tried making some more contacts, and we had some dinner dropped off for us later, which was pretty good.
Friday was pretty interesting. No one answered our calls/stop bys all day, so that was fun haha, and we had a curfew at 6, but we were also doing exchanges, so we switched companions (mine was Elder Prestwich, Elder Chapman's trainee) right before 6 and chilled for the rest of the night. We both had card/board games we could play, and I told him I'd be down to play whatever if he wanted to, but we ended up just talking and vibing. He learned how to solve a Rubiks cube the whole night, and I just did some family history the whole night 😂. It was fun though.
Saturday with Elder Prestwich pretty great. I made sure his legs were hurting from all our biking though lol. We weren't able to meet with very many people again, but we did run into the husband (non-member) of one of the members in our ward, and he invited us to play soccer with his him, his kids, and other kids that they were with. I haven't played for a while, and we were in our normal missionary clothes, so it was interesting but pretty fun haha. We then had dinner with some members and their neighbor (Steven, the guy who told us to wear helmets lol) and his wife, which was fun. I solved an algebra problem (been a while, but I still got it lol), and we had a really good lesson about Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for us. We then briefly met with Brett, and he said to stop by Wednesday at 5pm, which was the most solid return appointment we've gotten from him haha, so that was great. After the exchange, we got the transfer roster, and, as I said, I'm getting transferred out, and my new companion will be Elder Bennett (he's been out for over a year, I believe). And I'm still on bikes 😂. Elder Duncan will get an Elder who's in Gilroy right now (so already in our zone) to finish up his training, and I'm hoping that goes well.
After church on Sunday, we stopped by Justin and Jaycci's so I could adios, which was good. Justin is still solid, he even referred someone to me that lives in Livermore haha. He might be out of my area, but we'll see. Then Jaycci and the kids came outside to say goodbye as well. I then said goodbye to a few more people, we made some more stop bys, we had dinner with the bishop and his wife, and I started packing my stuff for transfers.
I hope everything is going well. This was a bit of a later email with all the craziness this weekend preparing for transfers haha, but I hope you all have a great week, and I'll see you all next week.
