From biking to walking to driving

Hello, My week was pretty good. We're still having some difficulties with finding people to teach, but our continual efforts to work with Brother Bodily, the ward council, and other ward missionaries to increase member involvement and strengthen the ward seemed to start to bear some fruit this week, and it seems like the ball has started to roll forward. All in all, we continue to find joy in the work alongside our Heavenly Father. Before I even get into the week, Elder Bennett's bike completely broke on Monday right before we got to Bruce's, so he drove us home, and we've been walking everywhere we go since then or asking for rides haha, it's been interesting. Anyways, there's some context lol. Tuesday was district council, which was pretty fun. The zone leaders give us a ride to district council each week, but because they had an appointment right after lunch, they just took us with them to their lesson haha. Elder Bennett and I walked around for a bit to d...

The hour long bike ride

Hello, Sorry that I didn't send an email last week haha. Aside from meeting Bert (I mention him later), there weren't too many big events that happened, we were mainly just trying to find people to teach and meeting with member of the ward for dinner and messages with them. This week was good. We still had some difficulty finding people to teach and all that, but it's all good, we still had fun this week. On Tuesday, we had zone conference, which was pretty good...but it was over zoom, which was a bit of bummer :/. Oh well, we still had a good time. After that, we planned a bit for some member lessons that night, including coming up with a written lesson plan for a family that was giving us dinner since we actually wouldn't be able to meet with them in person because of their schedule. We biked over to one family where the husband isn't a member, and we had a quick message testifying about the Book of Mormon and inviting them to read it as a family. It seemed like...

First week in Pleasanton

Hello, This week was pretty interesting. Leaving my first area, adjusting to a new one, meeting new missionaries and other people, it was fun haha. We're the Foothills Ward, and there are a lot more hills here than there were in Bernal lol, so that's been fun biking over those. Tuesday was transfers; Elder Duncan and I got picked up early to head to the mission office since Elder Chapman (our ride) had to be there for a leadership meeting, and the rest of the missionaries gradually piled in as well. I picked up a new bike, got a ride home from our zone leaders, and then Elder Bennett and I did some studies. Then, we were about to head out to make some contacts and meet some members, but his bike broke right when we went outside 😂. It was all good though; our ward mission leader came by to fix it a little bit, and then we rode our bikes to his house so he could continue working on it. While he was trying to fix it, his wife gave us some breakfast burritos, and by the time we ...

Last week in Bernal

Hello, As the title says haha, this ended up being my last week in the Bernal area, and I will be transferred up north to the Pleasanton/Livermore areas while Elder Duncan stays in Bernal with another Elder to finish up his training. First time leaving an area, so this is exciting haha. On Tuesday, we had district council, and we went over our goals for the past month as well as setting goals for this upcoming month, which went pretty well. For the rest of the day, I told Elder Duncan to take the lead today for planning, traveling/contacting, and some door contacts (for those who I hadn't met yet). No one was really home or available, but it was good letting Elder Duncan take the lead so he could get the experience (especially since I'm ending up leaving anyways haha). Oh, I also dropped a big, full container of juice, and the carton broke, so there was juice all over the floor, that was fun. Let's just say we had to use a lot of paper towels 😂 and the floor is still a b...
