Christmas time is here

Hello, My week was one of those busy/not busy weeks haha. We had a lot of Christmas activities, and we tried contacting as much as we could (busy), but we had those curfews two nights in a row, and few people were available because of the holidays (not busy). It was good though, it was a fun week. On Tuesday, we had district council with one of the Spanish districts in our zone since we still didn't have a district leader after Elder Crowton left to Mozambique for his original assignment lol. It was fun, and we got some lunch afterwards, so it was a party. After that, we were mainly trying to contact all day, and a couple people who said we could stop by that evening unfortunately didn't answer. It started raining again later that evening, which always completely soaks the lower half of my body haha (and for some reason, it always starts to downpour as we reach the furthest house that we planned to stop by from our apartment, perfect timing lol). It was a fun day though. Wednesday was the missionwide Christmas party/devotional. We were told it would end at 2, but we didn't actually leave until 5:30 haha, it was a fun time. We made Gingerbread houses (we made the Oakland Temple with some of the Spanish Elders in our zone), we watched most of Polar Express, President Smith told Elder Chapman he was the new district leader before he could say anything back haha, we had a devotional, we got our Christmas packages from home, we were served breakfast and lunch, and our zone was volun-told to clean up afterwards haha. Afterwards, we made some calls, got dinner dropped off for us, and tried making a few contacts that evening, so it was a pretty nice day. On Thursday, the rain kept going on and off, which made it difficult for us to schedule a time to stop at one of our member's house that morning/early afternoon haha. We eventually got there, had a good Christmas discussion, and got some dessert to take home. We then did some weekly planning, made some calls/stop bys as usual, and went to a member dinner. They live in one of the Morgan Hill wards (i.e. outside our area) but they have special permission to be in our ward, so they picked us up, and on the way back, the husband told us about this Egyptian museum (largest in Western Hemisphere, I believe) that's actually in San Jose, which sounded pretty cool haha. Friday was a very merry Christmas Eve. We tried doing some contacting, but everyone was gone or busy with family since it was the holidays, which we expected haha. We had another member dinner, had curfew at 6, and had another mission Christmas activity (over zoom this time) with a bunch of minute-to-win-it type games. It was a bit of a chill day since there was no one for us to talk to lol Saturday was Christmas, which was pretty interesting haha. I called and some presents with my family in the morning, and then we went to the bishop's house for Christmas breakfast. Similar to Christmas Eve, no one was really willing for us to come over, so we called family and did some studies at the church building, though we got soaked on the way there and back haha. We had some dinner with members that lived close to our apartments, so we thankfully didn't get as wet again as we did earlier haha, and then we chilled for the rest of the evening since we had another curfew. Again, a pretty chill day haha, but it was fun. On Sunday, we mainly just had church and went to several different neighborhoods to try meeting with people. We got quite a few solid return appointments set up for this week, which is quite the progress since they usually just say their schedule is up in the air and don't commit to a specific time haha. It was good though, this week should be exciting with those lessons set up. I was a bit tired today with all that contacting and biking around haha, but I'm grateful that we've been making some progress with the people we're teaching, even if it's just a little bit. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas as you turned your hearts to the Savior, and I hope He can continue to be the light of your lives just as He is the light of this Christmas season. -Elder Enger
