From trainee to trainer

Image
Hello, This week was a bit interesting with the transfers and training meetings, but, as always, it was a good week serving the Lord. Tuesday was transfers, so Elder Schumann-Curtis and I got a ride to the mission office, listened to the testimonies of the missionaries that were going home, and then we both got our new temporary companions (since our trainees wouldn't arrive till Wednesday). Mine was Elder Wilson, so we were companions for the next 24ish hours. We spent the rest of the day down in Hollister (Elder Wilson's area), stopped by a few houses, and then drove back up to Bernal to sleep at my apartment. It was fun; the testimonies were pretty great, and we had a good time in Hollister. On Wednesday, we made some stopbys in the nearby neighborhoods before picking up our trainees, and the three people who opened their doors all said that even though they were busy at the moment, they were glad to see us, and they were open to us coming back at the same time on Saturda...

Exciting news for next transfer

Hello, My week was pretty good. It was one of those weeks where we were very busy but it only seemed like a few things happened lol. Spoiler alert: I found out that I'm training a brand new missionary beginning this week, so....that's exciting haha. On Tuesday, we were mostly finding people and going around to different neighborhoods to make various stopbys. We did have a good chat with Tyler though as we are preparing him for baptism. We met with him and another member who had the same struggles that he has; his desire is definitely there, and we made sure his heart was in the right place and that he understood the commitments he would be making at baptism and what he'll need to change in his life. On Wednesday, we had District Council and then tried stopping by some more people in the afternoon (no one answered though lol). We then met with Justin and Jaycci for dinner, and we spent the rest of the evening at their house. We had a good discussion; unfortunately, Jaycci...

He will consecrate thy performance

Hello, This week was pretty good. This whole time, my companion has been on the Instagram team for my mission, but this week, he decided to take a break from it so that we could focus more on our area. Even though we didn't use as much social media, we found a lot more people and taught a lot more lessons than we did last week when we did use social media lol, so I guess the Lord consecrated our sacrifice for our welfare this week. On Tuesday, we decided to spend the whole day in the furthest part of our area (about 30 minutes or more to bike there lol), and we ended up finding a lot of people and teaching some really good lessons. One of those lessons was with Rico and Monica. Elder Schumann-Curtis had taught them before, but he hasn't been able to contact them for a few months. Despite that time gap, Monica still remembered everything that they were taught last time, and they were totally willing and open to learning all that they could, they loved everything we shared with...

Success isn’t always dependent on results

Hello, As always, my week was good haha. It was probably one of our driest weeks (especially the weekend) in regards to how many people we were able to contact and get to church, but we still had some pretty good lessons and experiences. On Tuesday, we had a lesson in the morning with a woman named Sandra. She was really sweet, and we talked a lot about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and how we can overcome any trial in our lives by keeping our focus on Him and praying to God for the strength or comfort or blessings we need. After that, we had District Council for a bit, and then we went to a lesson we had with a member and her friend, Letty, but Letty never showed up lol, so we just had a good lesson with the member instead. She's also on the Ward Mission Committee, so we were able to have a good discussion about the missionary effort and how it could incorporate the ward more. Then, we had a dinner and lesson with some other members; the Spirit was super strong, and we were able...

Trunk or treat

Hello, How are you guys doing during this spooky Halloween season? I'm sure all of your costumes were wonderful; I, personally, dressed up as a missionary for the Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, very scary indeed. Nothing too exciting happened on Tuesday. We normally meet with Justin and Jaycci on Tuesdays, but they were busy with all of the Halloween celebrations that their kids were having, so we just rode around some neighborhoods and made a lot of stopbys. We also found a hidden-ish pond, so that was neat haha. On Wednesday, we had Zone Conference, so that took up most of our day. President Smith asked us to each prepare a three minute talk about General Conference and how it related to our mission plan because he was going to choose a few of us to share it at Zone Conference, and of course, I was the first person chosen lol. I talked about Elder Holland's talk "The Greatest Possession" and 4 Nephi and how living and teaching the Doctrine of Christ...
