Home MTC week 2

Dear subscribers, Well, I survived the second week of the MTC....I need to think of another way to open these emails. Anyway, this week has been pretty good. In my classes, we mainly studied Lessons 1-3 (The Restoration, The Plan of Salvation, The Gospel of Jesus Christ), and we did more teaching practices. This week was the last week before my classes are completely in Tagalog, so next week should be interesting haha. On Monday, my companionship taught one of my teachers about doing temple/family history work in order to be a missionary for the dead, and he said it genuinely answered some of his prayers about how he can be a better missionary outside of serving a mission, so that was pretty neat. On Tuesday, I was able to hang out with my best friend that evening for a little bit. I went to his farewell earlier that week, so we just hung out as Elders. I also had a district meeting before that, and we were guessing each other's heights; it turns out that I'm tied for shortest in my district haha. On Wednesday, we focused on studying the Atonement of Jesus Christ in one of my classes, and that topic is something that always makes me feel the Spirit so strongly, and it often gets my eyes misty (shocking for me, I know). Later that night, I played air hockey and Life: Adventures Edition with my youngest sister. There's a certain satisfaction you get when you absolutely destroy your 9-year old sister in both of the games she chooses (not that anyone's counting, but I got $10.5 million in Life compared to her $2.8 million. #notcompetitive). Thursday was more of the same, but in my Tagalog class, our tutor had the idea to have us each teach his Filipino roommate for a couple minutes in Tagalog. It was quite something haha. Friday was pretty interesting. In my first class, we went around the "room" sharing each of the strengths/spiritual gifts we had observed in everyone, and that gave me a bit of confidence boost in regards to my teaching abilities (or anything that has to do with me talking lol). Then in my other class I completely froze mid-sentence while teaching about baptism *facepalm*. Later, my companionship taught the Restoration to someone, and while I noticed that she wanted to talk and get to know us first, one of my companions kept trying to abruptly jump into the lesson haha. We didn't get through the whole lesson, and we never even addressed her concerns, but we had a good rapport, and she wanted to reschedule with us to finish the lesson, so that's good. I was able to go to the temple this morning with my friend, and I got my first haircut as a missionary today (super exciting). Like I said, pretty good week. First week of home MTC

To my adoring fans, Well, I survived the first week of the MTC, so that's exciting. It sort of feels like school except that I actually have a good sleep schedule haha. On Monday, I woke up and had a large group meeting from 8 to 9 with all of the incoming missionaries (I think there's over 400 of us), and we just talked about our purpose, gave us an overview of our missionary experience, and got us excited for the work. We had one of these meetings each morning for this first week. My first district class is from 9 to 12, and my second class is from 1:30 to 4:30. There are 4 other Elders in my district, and we were all assigned to different areas of the Philippines. It was during this time when I also met my companions: Elder McClellan and Elder Blauer (with an odd number in our district, my companionship is a trio). My name is a swear word??

Happy Easter! If the title caught your attention, then good, the clickbait worked haha. While we were at one of our member's house for dinner, the young daughter tried saying my first name, but she wasn't pronouncing the "r"s properly (sort of like "pah-keh"), so her older sister and Elder Sabala corrected her and told her not to say it like that because it was a bad word. So there you go, I am a swear word 😂 Anyways, this week has been good, we were able to focus on a lot of people that we're trying to prepare for baptism soon, which has been good for us to taje care of and plan for. On Tuesday, we had district council, which was fun. There were a few birthdays in both districts, so we decided to meet together for birthday potluck for lunch and then split off into separate district councils, which was fun. Ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost

Hello, This week was pretty good, it was a good week to end my time here in Jones (yes, spoiler alert, I'm being transferred haha). Romarilyn got confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and received the gift of the Holy Ghost, a couple members of the Bulan family accepted an invitation to be baptized, and we met the family of Sister Elaine who are interested in meeting with us, so good things all around. Tuesday was ok. In the morning, we had a zoom companionship study with our zone leaders, which went alright. After some lunch, we visited Monalisa and Violeta, which went pretty well, we talked about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and they seemed at least a bit receptive to it, which is all we can ask for haha. We then walked for a while to briefly visit a less active member, and when we walked all the way back to another member's house to ask where another inactive member lived, they told us that he lived all the way back where we came haha...
