April 25, 2022 - And the fall thereof was exceedingly great

Image
Hello, How are you guys doing? I've now been in Almaguer for a full month now, and the adjustment and the language continues to get better and better, slowly but surely. As the title suggests (bonus points if you know the scripture), there were some exciting events this past week haha, so let's get to it. Tuesday was interesting. We had exchanges with the DL from 8am-6pm, but we had to wait a little while for them to arrive at the bus terminal. The DL came to my area while Elder Sabala went with his trainee to their area, and it went alright. After lunch, we visited Kim Jordan with Seth, Dona and Clace, and John Raven, which weny well. After our lessons, we briefly visited a new member (baptized last year) to schedule a time to teach her and her family since she was busy at that time, and we visited the branch president, President Callangan. As we were biking home to meet up with Elder Sabala to end the exchange, we also passed President Sadueste riding his bike, so that was fu...

April 17, 2022 - My name is a swear word

Happy Easter! If the title caught your attention, then good, the clickbait worked haha. While we were at one of our member's house for dinner, the young daughter tried saying my first name, but she wasn't pronouncing the "r"s properly (sort of like "pah-keh"), so her older sister and Elder Sabala corrected her and told her not to say it like that because it was a bad word. So there you go, I am a swear word   Anyways, this week has been good, we were able to focus on a lot of people that we're trying to prepare for baptism soon, which has been good for us to taje care of and plan for. On Tuesday, we had district council, which was fun. There were a few birthdays in both districts, so we decided to meet together for birthday potluck for lunch and then split off into separate district councils, which was fun. We then met with Rizalyn and her grandma and few others nearby to talk about the Restoration and the Book of Mormon, which went alright. We got home ...

April 10, 2022 - General Conference and a Typhoon?

Image
Hello everyone, This week has been good. Because of time zone differences, we weren't able to watch General Conference last week, but we were able to watch the Sunday sessions this week at church, and we're planning on watching the Saturday sessions later. The weather continues to either be really hot or rainy, and we even had what I think was some sort of typhoon (i.e. veey large storm), so that was exciting haha. On Tuesday, Elder Sabala and some of the other Elders went to get their booster shots (I followed along, but since I alreay had mine, I just worked on updating our information and creating resources for us to use for the work) and to buy a few things. We then had district council in person this time, which was alright except for the language barrier haha. After that, we headed over to teach Jordan, and we met and taught a couple of his friends as well. We then taught Rizalyn and a few other people, and we later had dinner with the other Elders in our apartment and so...
