San Jose's Tagalog group

Hello, This first week in the Tagalog group went pretty well. My companions are fun, we're actually all fairly similar haha. We were all "nerds" in high school (one of them even did IB), we all played tennis, and we all don't like choosing things lol. The apartment is nice; it's a two-man apartment, and we're a trio, but we're making it work, and we have a war with the pigeons haha. Before Elder Bundy came here, the previous Elders let the pigeons lay an egg on our porch (bad idea), so now we make sure to scare them off whenever they're on the porch (Elder Kindall often throws an orange at them to try to hit them lol). Elder Bundy (from Texas) has been on the mission for over 1.5 years, and Elder Kindall (from Idaho) came in the transfer (6 weeks) after him. The Tagalog is coming along, and we have a car to cover the English ward and Tagalog group, so my legs can finally take a break thus transfer haha. Tuesday was transfer day. Elder Bennett and I d...

Time to learn Tagalog again

Hello, So I was going to have the title be "...Are Great Things Brought to Pass" to finish the quote from last week's email's title--and it would've worked for this week too, we got a lot done haha--but then we got our transfer roster this weekend and found out that I'm going down to the Filipino Group in San Jose, and that's much more of an attention grabber. On Tuesday, we had two lessons with some inactive families scheduled that evening, but after district council/zone pictures, one of them called to cancel and reschedule. Later that afternoon, we made several calls, stopped by a couple houses (Ester and Shariga) that said we could come back on Saturday (which is progress for our area), and we met a man named Gordon walking his dog, who said we could come by again as well. Unfortunately, the other family we were planni...

By small and simple things…

Hello, My week was pretty good. We've been starting to see more progress, and we hope that carries on as we strive to be diligent ourselves while also involving the ward members as much as we can in missionary work, whether alongside us or in their own lives. Tuesday was Zone Conference; it was over zoom again, hopefully for the last time haha. Afterwards, Elder Bennett made a lot of calls and texts while I was resting my eyes haha. I had a headache for some reason and I felt pretty tired after zone conference. We then got a call from Sister Salter, who we were planning to meet that evening to help her and her family come back to church, and she told us that their water heater just inexplicably broke, so we rescheduled for Wednesday evening. We then tried stopping by Burt, and when we knocked, we heard his wife come to the door, look through the peephole, and say something to him, and then he came out of the garage and told us not to come back because they have a lot on their pla...
