Getting Eduardo to church

Hello, Like usual, my week was pretty busy but really good. Since we're trying to meet new people and help more people progress, some days aren't as eventful, but it's still a blast wherever we are. It was also raining this week for the first time in months for San Jose, so that was really nice. Tuesday was District Council (but no Taco Tuesday :( ), and we later had a meeting with a woman named Letty who was being taught by the Sister missionaries for a while before they were transferred. We then stopped by a guy named Eduardo (he was the first guy we taught last Sunday; I somehow forgot to mention this last week, but we set up a baptism date for him about a month from now), and then stopped by Justin/Jaycci for dinner and a lesson. It was really good; they've been studying the scriptures more and more, and there has been a noticeable change in them since they were baptized and received the gift of the Holy Ghost, which has been awesome to witness, and we were just h...

The Primary program

Hello, Sorry for the later email (and lackluster opening/closing, I've run out of ideas haha), but don't worry, I didn't forget about you guys haha. This week was the first week of the transfer, so there were various meetings we went to, which made it a bit hectic, but we still got a lot done and had a great week. We also had a car for the first few days because of the craziness of transfers and the incoming missionaries, so that was pretty nice haha. On Tuesday, we went to the transfer meeting, where those who are going home bear their testimonies/share what they learned and everyone else meets their new companion (if they have a new one). Afterwards, we tried stopping by our neighbor's to check up on their houseguest (the one who found a Book of Mormon), but he apparently moved out (sad), so we contacted his local missionaries so that he could still be taught the gospel. Since Wednesday was one of our more open days, we spent the whole time biking around various n...

The Baptism

Image
Hey y'all, We had a pretty hectic yet awesome week. Normally, we just cover the Bernal Ward, but this week, we were covering the neighboring area/ward (Morgan Hill) as well, so we kept bouncing back and forth. After Distict Council/Taco Tuesday, my companion and I went with the Morgan Hill Elders (Elder Tefft and Elder Shearman) to the mission office to drop off Elder Tefft so he could leave to Kenya (his original assignment) the next morning. From that day on, my companionship became a trio with Elder Shearman as we covered two areas for the last week of the transfer. Later that evening, we played some basketball with the kids while Justin and Jaycci had their baptism interview (and apparently, I've been spelling her name wrong this whole time lol). Afterwards, we had some dinner with them, talked about how the Book of Mormon and the Bible complement each other, and she told us how she did a mini Family Home Evening on the Ten Commandments with the kids the night before (with...

General conference

Hola amigos, This past weekend was General Conference weekend, and as such, our week was pretty busy; only Thursday and Friday were our only "free days" that we had to actually do lessons and contacting. For anyone who doesn't know, what's awesome about General Conference is that we get to hear from prophets and apostles called by God who testify of Jesus Christ and direct His Church today. Furthermore, we get to hear from the President of the Church--the prophet for the whole world, not just the Church--who gives us counsel as the spokesman for God today. Like I said, it's pretty awesome, but don't take my word for it, you can watch/read their words at churchofjesuschrist.org so totally check in out. Tuesday was District Council as always, and after that, we met with a woman (Helen) and one of her friends (a member) to have dessert and explain some of our beliefs. She's willing to listen to us and have us over when she's available, and it seems like...
